The trocar catheter is inserted into the pleural gap after skin incision and puncture of the pleural cavity. The light metal stylet is removed and the remaining catheter is connected to the connecting tube/stepped connector of a thoracic drainage system.

The sizes Ch 08, 10, 12 and 16 have a funnel-shaped connector.
The sizes Ch 20, 24, 28 and 32 have a plain connector.
